Civil Legal Services (CLS) Grants

The IOLA statute requires that at least 75 percent of the Fund's revenue be used to fund programs that provide direct civil legal services to poor people. This portion of the revenue is distributed according to the geographical distribution of poor persons throughout the state, based on the latest available federal census figures.

Administration of Justice (AOJ) Grants

The remaining portion of IOLA revenue (up to 25%) may be used to fund projects that promote the Administration of Justice and provide civil legal services to underserved populations such as the elderly, the physically challenged and the mentally disabled.
